Celebrate Central American Independence Day With Us: Thursday Evening, September 15, 5-10 p.m.
There’s a Party Going on in Here!
Chef Edgar will be preparing some of his favorite Central American dishes—including Pupusa, a traditional Salvadoran dish made of thick, hand-made corn tortilla, served with curtido, a lightly fermented cabbage slaw with red chilies and vinegar, and a delicious tomato salsa.
Celebrating Freedom: On Sept. 15, 1821, Central America’s provinces proclaimed independence from the Spanish crown, which is cause for celebration for anyone who grew up or lives in the region. Central American ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and ministers are all invited to participate in grand events. Hundreds of students from various schools join in the celebrations as well. In fact, many students wait for the independence parties to wear their uniform for the first time of the year. In the parades, rich and poor students alike show off their new uniforms. worn with shining black shoes.
No shiny shoes required at Avenida. Just bring your friends, and your appetite, and enjoy $5 margaritas, plates of Pupusa, and other select menu items—all night long!

Set in a historic Mount Airy home built in the 1700s, patrons will sit by the stone fireplace or on the romantic outdoor porch sipping margaritas and sampling Chef Edgar’s signature guacamole with homemade tortilla chips and salsa. 
We will feature three tacos and three sides for just $20 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
